  phylogenetic justification
Assignment to (Colubridae+Elapoidea) is based on the presence of: a well-developed, narrow haemel keel that is uniform in transverse width and extends from an expanded cotylar ventral lip anteriorly to terminate posteriorly just anterior to the condyle; epizygapophyseal spines, and; elongate prezygapophyseal accessory processes (Rage, 1974).
